With Canada Day around the corner, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the nation’s 158th birthday, including fireworks, live music, food, and more. From Fort Calgary to the National Music Centre, we’ve got all the big Canada Day events listed below. But there’s more than Canada Day taking place. Other fun things to do include Broadway’s Riverdance, Sound Atlas Music Festival, Brett Kissel at Spruce Meadows, The Mom Market, and more!

Canada Day

  • Triple-Play + Fireworks, Calgary (AB) A city-wide multi-venue celebration taking place at Fort Calgary, St. Patrick’s Island, and the Municipal Building, featuring Indigenous Spotlight & Powwow, Artisan Market, Main Stage performances (Lu Kala, Aysanabee, Sam Roberts Band), Cultural Carousel & workshops, multiple festival stages with live music, family entertainment, food and the Calgary Fireworks launch from Stampede Park.

  • Canada Day Racing at Century Downs (June 30) Canada Day Special for 2025! Celebrate with the excitement of Live Standardbred Racing under the bright lights! Join us for a Monday evening spectacular with a thrilling 6:15 PM post time. Bring the whole crew—this event is kid-friendly, with festive vibes and face painting!

  • Canada Day at Central Library: Join us for free activities and programs to celebrate and recognize Canada’s many stories. Activities will include a special storytime, traditional Indigenous dancing demonstrations, outdoor musical performances, and a citizenship ceremony for New Canadians. 

  • Studio Bell & King Eddy: Free admission and 50% off annual memberships. Catch live performances, free activities for the whole family and learn more about Canadian music history.

  • East Village Street Fair: The East Village Street Fair is held annually on Canada Day. This fun event attracts over 25,000 visitors thanks to its beer gardens, free live music and all-ages activities!

  • Canada Day at Heritage Park: Heritage Park is open for Canada Day and is the perfect place for a celebratory look back on the past. This year, you can enjoy a special Canada Day High Tea.

Things to Do This Week

  • Bow After Hours - Adults Only Night (June 26): an adults-only series designed with guests ages 18+ in mind. Take part in indoor and outdoor activities, and revel in relaxed, adult-exclusive access to the Discovery Centre and Aquariums. Being an adult has never been this much fun! 

  • Kensington Night Market (June 26) Held by The Downtown Markets, The Kensington Night Market returns with the opportunity to shop from local vendors while enjoying live music and entertainment.

  • Richard BONA Live Concert (June 26) Richard Bona is a Grammy Award-winning musician, one of the most accomplished international bassists, composers, and multi-instrumentalists. With his unique sound and vocal gift, he continually puts forward his African origins. Bona's music addresses the traditions, culture, beauty and issues of the continent.   • Canada vs. The World - Market Wines (June 26) We will compare three Canadian wines against wines from around the world to see if Canada reigns supreme! We’re bringing our best, so we’re sorry in advance if we win. 

  • Cheese Please: Canadian Wine Edition with Marnie (June 27) Join us for an interactive cheese and wine showdown. There will be 6 cheeses paired against 6 wines. Neither will know what the other is bringing to the table. Round 1: Michelle will present a cheese, and Marnie will pair a wine with it. Round 2: Marnie will present a wine and Michelle will match a cheese to it. The challenge will go back and forth for 6 rounds total. At the end, you can weigh in and declare your favourite match-up of the night.

  • 2025 Canadian Masters Weightlifting Nationals (June 27 - 29) Canadian Masters Weightlifting Nationals, held in Calgary and hosted by AWA and WCHM.

  • Sound Atlas Music Festival (June 27 - 29) Kick off the Summer with the joyously vibrant Sound Atlas Festival where whimsy meets the unexpected in this year’s SONIC PLAYGROUND.
